3 posts | 5 read | 3 to read
A story about a wounded girl and the boy who won't give up on her. 7th grader Louise should be the captain of her school's gymnastics team - but she isn't. She's fun and cute and should have lots of friends - but she doesn't. And there's a dreamy boy who has a crush on her - but somehow they never connect. Louise has everything going for her - so what is it that's holding her back? Phoebe Stone tells the winning story of the spring when 7th grader Louise Terrace wakes up, finds the courage to confront the painful family secret she's hiding from - and finally get the boy.

#ANewChapter Day 10: This #heartbreaker tale was reviewed by Fats: “The Boy on Cinnamon Street is a story about ‘a wounded girl and the boy who won‘t give up on her.‘ It was this very notion that made me want to read the book. Nothing is more exciting than reading about secret admirers. The mystery surrounding this new love gives her butterflies in her stomach and funny feelings in her heart.” Her review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-5jD

My assignment in the sound booth today at the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library

Chelsey What's this all about? Are you reading aloud? Is it for your job or a volunteer thing? I live in West Seattle and am curious because that sounds like fun 8y
Spiderfelt I'm a volunteer editing sound files recorded by other volunteers who record talking books. They always need volunteers. I started in Shipping & Receiving, then moved into book reviewing and now editing. 8y
Spiderfelt Book reviewers listen to the sound files while reading the book and note any discrepancies digitally on the file. Then the narrator returns to re-record the sentence with the error. @Chelsey 8y
Spiderfelt The WTBBL is commissioned part to create talking books for titles written by local authors or subject matter specific to WA state. I've learned so much about this area I wouldn't have known otherwise. 8y
Chelsey @Spiderfelt That's so cool! What an awesome program. I'll have to look it up 8y
