Small Damages
Small Damages | Beth Kephart

Juno meets Under the Tuscan Sun It's senior year, and while Kenzie should be looking forward to prom and starting college in the fall, she discovers she's pregnant. Her determination to keep her baby is something her boyfriend and mother do not understand. So she is sent to Spain, where she will live out her pregnancy, and her baby will be adopted by a Spanish couple. No one will ever know. Alone and resentful in a foreign country, Kenzie is at first sullen and difficult. But as she gets to know Estela, the stubborn old cook, and Esteban, the mysterious young man who cares for the horses, she begins to open her eyes, and her heart, to the beauty that is all around her, and inside her. Kenzie realizes she has some serious choices to make--choices about life, love, and home. Lyrically told in a way that makes the heat, the colors, and the smells of Spain feel alive, Small Damages is a feast for the heart and the soul, and a coming-of-age novel not easily forgotten.

Panpan

This book did not do it for me. I found the writing weird and annoying, like it was trying to be poetic and lyrical but was just flimsy. None of the characters felt real. The tone was one note the whole time and didn‘t have levels. I don‘t think I‘ll read more by this author.

When you order a book for a swap match and it comes in like this. *Sigh* Send it or keep it? I hate the idea of giving someone damaged books. #mailissues #poorbook 😥

That-Bookish-Hiker Oh man that sucks! Maybe you can email the business and see if they will send you a new one since that one is damaged. 6y
cobwebmoth I hate when that happens.😩 6y
GarthRanzz I hate that! And it seems to happen more and more with every shipper. I received a torn, empty envelope from Amazon today. It was supposed to be my new mechanical pencil. 6y
FantasyChick That is awful @GarthRanzz 😔 Hopefully they send you a replacement. There was a slice in the top of mine so it looks like the package was opened with a knife or something and it sliced into the book cover. Mail service just isn't the same lately. I'm going to try to see if the company will replace it. 6y
FantasyChick @That-Bookish-Hiker That's what I'm going to do. It's not a huge deal, but it isn't something I ordered for myself so I'd rather not send it as is. Makes me sad when things get damaged like that. 6y
