Chasing the Dead
Chasing the Dead | Tim Weaver
5 posts | 5 read | 9 to read
One year ago, Alex Towne's body was found. One month ago, his mother saw him on the street. One week ago, David Raker agreed to look for him. Now he wishes he hadn't. Mary Towne's son, Alex, went missing six years ago. Five years later he finally turned up - as a corpse in a car wreck. Missing persons investigator David Raker doesn't want the work: it's clearly a sad but hopeless case of mistaken identity brought to him by a woman unable to let go of her son. But haunted by a loss of his own, Raker reluctantly agrees. Big mistake. For as he digs deeper, he discovers that Alex's life was not the innocent one his mother believed. Buried in his past are secrets that were never meant to be found - and dark, dangerous men willing to kill to protect them. Soon Raker will discover that there are things far worse than death...

#weeklyforecast - Still reading Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat and also P&P. Just started the tagged book this morning. If I like it, I'll read the next four books in the series & then see about getting the rest from the library!! From there, it's on to random TBR books. My work hours should be ramping up this week, so I will see how far I get!!!

AliciaDean Had to give up early. The narration was unbearable. 6y

Pickpick

This follows David Raker who investigates missing people. This is the first novel I have read with this subject manner. This was fast paced and extremely engaging throughout. At the end the violence is a little uncomfortable but it is well written. I greatly enjoyed this novel however, I will not be rushing to read more from the series which is in conflict to how much I liked the book and something I can not fathom. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Finally have time to settle down and read my stack of books. For July I'm getting rid of TBRs and just picking up whatever looks good. So today, it's going to be me and this first book in a missing persons/maybe murder mystery series.

My #LibraryLoot seems to have taken a left turn towards the dark side of humanity. And then there's Anne Tyler, because she's Anne Tyler.
