Slip of the Knife
Slip of the Knife: A Novel | Denise Mina
2 posts | 5 read | 3 to read
A brilliant new thriller featuring Paddy Meehan, one of the most praised heroines since Temperance Brennan, from "a rising star in the world of crime fiction" (Laura Miller, Salon). Paddy Meehan is no stranger to murder--as a reporter she lives at crime scenes--but nothing has prepared her for this visit from the police. Her former boyfriend and fellow journalist Terry Patterson has been found hooded and shot through the head. Paddy knows she will be of little help--she had not seen Terry in more than six months. So she is bewildered to learn that in his will he has left her his house and several suitcases full of notes. Drawn into a maze of secrets and lies, Paddy begins making connections to Terry's murder that no one else has seen, and soon finds herself trapped in the most important--and dangerous--story of her career.

Pickpick

Paddy meehan is a great creation +like the garnethill books by denise mina only appears in a trilogy. In bk 2 we left paddy discovering she was pregnant +on the brink of a major scoop about her criminal namesake. 5 years on a character from bk 1 is coming out of prison and an ex boyfriend has been violently killed. Paddy with problems at home +with her family sets out to investigate and is soon at risk. A great end to a good character and series.

I happened to be home today at lunchtime (going to an appointment shortly) and conveniently the letter carrier had this parcel for me. (And oddly enough, I had been just about to email AbeBooks/BookDepository to ask where this was...)

LeahBergen Some Book Depository orders are taking sooooo long to arrive now. It's irritating! 7y
rabbitprincess @LeahBergen Oh good, it's not just me! It must be something to do with customs. 7y
LeahBergen I just had one arrive relatively quickly (which was odd) and have a couple of others on order, too. We'll see when THEY turn up. 😄 7y
