pickThis #read launched my departure from litfic only books into the wider world of intellectually messy pulp. After this came Sidney Sheldon, which I also loved. Too damselly for some, this book remains one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Not for those who prefer man-bashing combat queens for heroines.

This is the first Adult book I remember reading outside of school (The Raven by Poe would have been the first "in school" Adult read for me). This was my mother's book and I thought I was so cool and so grownup when I read it—and it ended up being a good book so that's a plus. I should read my copy sometime. ☺️
