Rude Behavior
Rude Behavior | Dan Jenkins
1 post | 1 read
The good-ole-boy heroes of Dan Jenkins' Semi-Tough and Life Its Ownself are back in this exuberant tale of football and other excesses. Rude Behavior finds Billy Clyde Puckett, former New York Giant football god and later television announcer, as general manager and part-owner of a new NFL team, the West Texas Tornadoes. His old drinking partner-in-crime and favorite receiver, Shake Tiller, has written a bestselling book, The Average Man's History of the World, and his nearly perfect wife, Barbara Jane, is in Hollywood, making a movie with Shake, who happens to be her old flame. Meanwhile, Billy Clyde's father-in-law, Big Ed Bookman, who is more Texas than oil and is majority owner of the Tornadoes, is trying to lure the old Giants coach, T.J. Lambert, to run his new team. And Billy Clyde has met a bartender named Kelly Sue Woodley, a wiseass beauty who works at a joint called "He Ain't Here" and causes some major marital discord. All these folks are back to take part in some serious fun, which in Jenkinsland means football, plenty of "young scotches," athletic exploits on the field and in the bedroom, a lot of riffs about the stupidity of "gubmint reg-you-layshuns," and the sublime beauty of country music. Hilarious, stubbornly retrograde, and laced with affection for everything Texas football stands for, Rude Behavior is vintage Dan Jenkins.

Rude Behavior | Dan Jenkins

I have a few writer friends on Facebook, and one of them posted that he wrote 2k words for his WIP!!! So I went to comment with a “fuck yeah dude” and some lady, another aspiring writing, actually commented and told him “Talent has nothing to do with it. It‘s all about who you know. I‘m bitter.” BITCH. Just because no one wants to publish your comedic noir poetry doesn‘t mean anything. It pisses me off when unsuccessful people put others down.

AmandaL That's too bad. 🙁 6y
JPeterson Boo. What a shame people have to act like that to feel better about themselves 6y

Josie @swishandflick no joke, I am trying to convince him to sign up!! He‘s had a hard time finding his target audience and I think Litsy would be a great place for him. 6y
Clare-Dragonfly What does her inability to get published even have to do with his actual accomplishment?! 6y
WarpedSweetness That's awful. You tell him fuck yeah from me! And encourage him to join the Litsy side! We have readers! He can find his audience in us! 6y

Scurvygirl Bleck, what's wrong with people! No class. 6y
Josie @Clare-Dragonfly exactly!!!! I didn‘t get involved because he can handle himself, but I did message him and told him not to listen to people like that. 6y
Josie @WarpedSweetness he‘s going to!! I convinced him! He writes LGBTQ and he was telling me “there‘s no audience for it” and I freaked out and was like YEA THERE IS COME TO LITSY!! As soon as he joins I will share his info! 6y
WarpedSweetness @Josie No audience!? There is totally an audience over here! Myself included, I'm trying to read more LGBTQ books in 2018. Good! He needs to be over here with all the love. Lol 6y
