Alex in Wonderland
Alex in Wonderland | Simon James Green
4 posts | 4 read | 4 to read
A novel that will have you laughing out loud one minute, and swooning the next! In the town of Newsands, painfully shy Alex is abandoned by his two best friends for the summer. But he unexpectedly lands a part-time job at Wonderland, a run-down amusement arcade on the seafront, where he gets to know the other teen misfits who work there. Alex starts to come out of his shell, and even starts to develop feelings for co-worker Ben ... who, as Alex's bad luck would have it, has a girlfriend. Then as debtors close in on Wonderland and mysterious, threatening notes start to appear, Alex and his new friends take it on themselves to save their declining employer. But, like everything in Wonderland, nothing is quite what it seems...

Oh Alex I love you so much. This was such a great story. I enjoyed it so much. We've got mystery, humour, drama and romance. The plot is a good steady burn to a brilliant ending. I did have an idea who was behind it all but it came together amazingly. The characters are so much fun and you easily warm to them especially Alex. 5* first book read for #RushAThon. @Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES @DieAReader

Well written. Bit of a slow start but picks up and then it‘s actually laugh-out-loud funny, cute, heart-warming YA m/m romance. #lgbtqia

I live in a town by the sea, with its beloved but run down attractions, and I now can't go to the arcades without imagining Alex and co. working there!
This book is another hilarious dip into the minds of teenagers from SJG, and he does it so well. It's rude at times, but so are teenagers. It's silly and over the top at times, but so are teenagers! The hint of mystery adds another reason to turn the pages, but the characters are the big draw.

Just starting this and hoping for lots of laugh-out-loud moments, as with 'Noah Can't Even' (which I and the kids adored!). We need a bit of cheeky light relief in these serious times!
Bonus - a chance to show off my amazingly geeky book sleeve ❤🤓
