The Book of the Courtier | 
pickFinally finished! It took me a year. Yes, it was that slow of a read, but what kept me reading was the window into a way to see the world so different from ours. Four courtiers and a duchess and her ladies dicuss the properties and character of the perfect courtier. There was a truly misogynistic character and it was excellent how the other characters challenged him and called out his hatred of women.

Angeles @LiteraryinLawrence Thanks! The real issue is you have to go through the footnotes to get a lot of the meaning of expressions and names on the text. Anyway, this was my "I am bored but don't feel like scrolling on my phone at the doctor's office book" 9mo
