Very brutal description of childhood in a gulag and the life after that. One of the most violent stories I've read about North Korea. This was set in the time just before the great famine and I felt like he was extremely lucky to have left North Korea just in time. The worry over his family must have been awfull! This reminded me a lot of Tears of my soul. Many sad similarities...
Started reading these two. Especially excited by the Valley of the horses by Untinen-Auel!
