Life and Love of Cats | Lewis Blackwell

The Life and Love of Cats takes us on an unforgettable journey--we travel from the homes of middle-America today, back to the demonized creatures hiding in the alleys of medieval Europe; from wild cousins on the plains of Africa to rare hybrid domestic breeds like the Savannah; and from fashionable show breeds to shelter cats lovingly rescued by volunteers. Starting with the earliest records of domestic cats 9,000 years ago in Africa and the Mediterranean and moving to the present, Lewis Blackwell weaves stories of one of humankind's closest companions with a collection of more than 100 unforgettable images. Praise for The Life and Love of Cats: "Fabulous felines." --People "As good as Blackwell's text is (and it's quite good--an approachable, informative, and appreciative study of cats of all breeds), the true appeal of the book is the stunning images." --Publishers Weekly, starred review "Filled with gorgeous color photos of domestic and wild felines: Russian blues, Siamese, lions, leopards, Bengal tigers and more." --BookPage "A global tour of one of the world's most popular animals." --The Charlotte Observer "This is a gorgeous coffee table book" --dooce

slategreyskies I like to read on Sundays. I also always do a load of dishes and often fold laundry while my husband goes for a walk. We also always listen to the same classical radio station all day. Fairly simple, I suppose, but it‘s calming and helps us reset for the coming week. ✨ 2y
kaysworld1 @slategreyskies I do the same thing have the radio on all day on smooth channel. 2y
Suet624 Every Sunday is different but today I gardened, napped, and read for hours on my porch while the Red Sox played on the radio. 2y

kaysworld1 @Suet624 Sounds like bliss. 2y
Suet624 For the first time in many many years I‘m not working this summer. I‘m slowly easing into the idea that I don‘t have to constantly be doing something. It‘s harder than it looks. But I‘m going to master it. 2y
kaysworld1 @Suet624 and it sounds like you deserve it too. The art of doing nothing I think there's there's word for that but I can't remember it, I'll Google it. 2y
kaysworld1 @Suet624 'Dolce Far Niente' its Italian means The sweetness of doing nothing. 2y
Suet624 Ah, beautiful. And I‘m feeling that sweetness. Thank you for that. 💕 2y

My adorable kitties got a new two-leveled lounge this afternoon. It was tough to share at first, but they got used to it. It‘s always nice to see their reaction for a new toy.

And when they need some space, there‘s always the box it came in to hide inside of!!

rubyslippersreads At my house, the box might be the more popular toy. 😹 5y
wanderinglynn How fun! ❤️🐱 5y
