Mehso-so

This book tries to look at depression and suicidal ideation in the context of a young married couple. To summarize - they handled it poorly. After the wife‘s latest suicide attempt, the couple decides she should stop all medications and they then move to another country where she is left alone a lot of the time? Made no sense to me. For most of the book, the couple is not physically together. It just confused me. #hoopla

Mina is staring over the edge of the George Washington Bridge when a patrol car drives up. Her husband Oscar comes to get her but only he knows she might not be telling the truth - she tried to kill herself on their wedding night. It's a story of mental illness and identity and how relationships and work intersect with these things.
.
I had a copy from the publisher through Edelweiss and it came out April 7, 2020, but last fall in the UK.

Pickpick

On the cover there‘s a review that says, “beautifully weird”. Gotta be honest, that would not be how I‘d describe the book. Beautiful, yes...weird, no. Heartbreaking on several different levels with an ending that could be hopeful or then again a pause before permanence. Depression is an evil friend.
