The Slowest Book Ever
The Slowest Book Ever | April Pulley Sayre
6 posts | 2 read
April Pulley Sayre’s wry, quirky storytelling tone shines from the warning on the first page ("This is a S-L-O-W book. Do not read it while surfing, water skiing, or running to escape giant weasels.”) right through to the glossary at the end. In between, readers will explore an astounding variety of information about all things slow--in nature, geology, art, outer space, etc. Throughout, The SLOWEST Book EVER playfully encourages readers to slow down and savor everything. As Sayre shows: "If you think slowly enough, the entire world is amazing.” This innovative nonfiction work is a treasure trove of information that begs for multiple readings.

Mehso-so

I'm so sad but I only thought this book was ok. The illustrations were cute and the facts were interesting, but the issue with the words being IN the binding threw me so badly I had issues focusing.

While I'm enjoying the book, I'm finding it very annoying that the words often times are too close to the inside binding, so the whole word can't be seen >.

CrowCAH That would be annoying. 😣 7y
bookelf221 @CrowCAH it is! Luckily it's just the headings, but it makes it seem like a poor printing job where they didn't check their work 7y

Pickpick

This book deals with slow, big, chewy thinking about all sorts of topics including animals, plants, geology, arts, and outer space. It finishes up with an extensive glossary and notes.

This book is about all things slow. I love this idea - a slow day!
"People could eat slowly. People would read and wander...You could talk with a slow-motion voice to your parents. What else would happen on a slow day? Slow down and imagine that for a while."
