pickIn my quest to read everything Marie Brennan has written, I requested this 100-page novella from the library. Despite being so short, I really enjoyed the story it told, an introduction to what seems like a very interesting world. Unfortunately, I think there‘s only 1 other novella in the series.
Two fascinating-sounding novellas published by Tor.com appeared in my life from my favorite #bookfairy and will go on my sooner-rather-than-later TBR stack.

pickI enjoyed this really short read but I wasn't blown away. I felt it had some really interesting elements but it delty rushed and somewhat rushed.

This novella about a woman created in direct response to another person's needs and wants resounded for me. It was a quieter, more internal venture, even though the main character does undergo a physical quest. I loved it. (4/5 stars)
pickI finally got around to reading this novella. It starts with a very interesting hook, the incarnation of a being who is forcibly dedicated to a task. Ree is a fascinating protagonist with a fierce nature and the desire for self-determination.
I am absolutely looking forward to the sequel. And tor.com is winning the novella game so hard. Maybe the Booksmugglers will give them some competition this year.
pickMy New Years reading is off to a great start, I've finished 4 books already since yesterday - to be fair this is a 90 page novella. Great world building and a fast, enjoyable read. I really like Marie Brennan's lady Trent series, and didn't even realize it was the same author when I picked this up! 👍🏻
