Meet Adrienne Brown, a twenty-eight-year-old Wellesley College grad who recently left her glamorous job at Town & Country for a spot at the Capitolist. Known simply as the List to Beltway insiders, its the only media outlet in D.C. thats actually on the rise. Taking the job means accepting a painful pay cut, giving up perks like free Louboutins, and moving back in with her parents, but Adrienne is certain that her new position will be the making of her career. And it isbut not at all in the way that she expects. The Capitolist runs at an insane pace: Adriennes up before five in the morning, writing ten stories a day (sometimes on her BlackBerry, often during her commute), and answering every email within three minutes. Just when it seems like the frenetic workload is going to break her, she stumbles upon a juicy political affair, involving a very public senatorand her most competitive colleague. Discovering that theres much more to the relationship than meets the eye, Adrienne realizes shes got the scoop of a lifetime. But should she go public with the story? Inspired by Washington insider Karin Tanabes experiences at Politico, The List is a riveting debut novel bursting with behind-the-scenes details about what happens when media and politics collide.

Well it looks like me and @Jadams1776 had the same idea and at least one of these books. Anyways I chose five that I would like to read, you guys let me know what your topic is and we will go with that.

Jadams89 I‘ve read Potion to Die For, but I don‘t remember what happens. I‘m good with any of them. I‘m drawn to that pink cover for some reason (I‘m not even a pink fan 😂) (edited) 3y
Littlewolf1 @Jadams1776 lol, I love the cover of that one too. It‘s also been on my TBR for awhile. 3y
LibrarianRyan So I had the victoria Laurie and A Potion to Die for on my list as well. 3y

Mehso-so

This was just so-so. The most interesting part to me was the crazy lifestyle of the reporters, which I'm guessing is true to life. I wanted to like it more, but the main character's motivation was hard to buy and the big story at the center wasn't that exciting.

Here are some of my tbr for January. Two are for book clubs (hillbilly elegy and Iran awakening), others books that have been on the pile and fit some of the challenges. The rest is to to be determined by Ebook availability at the library. Likely to include an inspector gamache, a jack reacher, and finishing the corner. #januaryreads #januarytbr
