28 books in June! 🤯 There was a few short books, but I was really trying to catch up on some of my challenges.
28 books in June! 🤯 There was a few short books, but I was really trying to catch up on some of my challenges.
My worst book of June was a few books, but I‘m labeling this as the worst because I was hoping for something more or maybe growth. The rape and instead of equality it went 360 where men were now under women. As a woman I want equality, but I also have a son I want to see succeed in this world. This book felt too real with a lot of the crazy we are seeing, and I wish we could find a balance. 😓
My favorite (non-reread) for June was The Nightingale! It was soo good, and the copy I have is gorgeous!
My June Haul (Minus what I already showed) will have to hold me over until I start getting paid again. 😬
4✨ I was able to sneak one more into June‘s completed books! I gushed about this one to my husband. I‘ve had this on my shelves for over 10+ years, and the title is what drew me originally. However, as I read this I discovered an amazing story about finding your person, and not losing yourself in the process. Each boyfriend may have had a dog that connected them, but the lessons she learned about dating and herself are what make this book.
3✨ I‘m honestly not sure when I got this book, but I‘ve had it for a long while. I‘m glad I finally picked it up, and found out it was about a girls life. In the short story we grow up with our MC through the good the bad, and the love of small town life. I really liked her, and her family. What I didn‘t like was the writing bounced around within the characters head spontaneously. While it followed a natural timeline it moved around in chapters.
5✨I looked back and found out I read this 7.5 years ago when I had my first baby. I also gave it a 5 star then! I love the strength and compassion that was shown by our main character. There is mystery, adventure, and a love triangle what more could you want? I loved reading this with everyone in #LittensLoveSJM with @StayCurious and look forward to reading-enjoying the rest of my favorite SJM series. 🥰💛
1✨ Normally I am a fan of dystopian, but this one was too much. Maybe too real? There were several POVs which were all pretty similar (at least all the females). Women found they had actual power and instead of equality they decided to take over. There was rape, and sex as a tool that were hard to read through. Also along the story was murder, and justification using scripture throughout. #HTBookClub @Littlewolf1
I wish I knew how to show the whole picture, but a new Facebook reading group someone had the A to Z challenge. I‘m going to start in July and see how many I can get, but will go to December to complete. The bottom next to Z has: one word title, favorite color on the cover, number in the title, and animal in the cover.
I have several books I‘m trying to finish that might end up in my queue, but this is a mostly complete list for July. 🤩 I will be trying to continue to finish some #SeriesLove in the following month, but got a lot of my #roll100 caught up and #FairyTaleRetellingChallenge is caught up! 😍 Next will be my #DolittleDiscussion and #LosersClub
3✨ Another solid Nancy Drew mystery of a missing grandson. The jewelry box may be the clue they need to solve this one, but before that Nancy makes some mistakes?! I‘m so glad that she was more human in this one than capable of doing everything without effort. #NancyDrewBR @Librarybelle
3✨ Time has passed and a sort of peace has been felt by our characters. While I appreciated the adventure that this book provided. I was getting tired of the constant females overpowering males with their bodies as well as spells about sex and pain. Overall, I liked the series, characters, action, and plot line. #SeriesLove (5/5) @TheSpineView @Andrew65
3✨I‘m glad I stuck this one out. Each book in the series followed a different high school student, and this started out rocky for me. Withholding the truth or lying is not something I like in a character, but when the truth came out it was pretty interesting after that. This is the last book in the series. #SeriesLove @TheSpineView @Andrew65
1.) If I had to pick one it would be connection whether that be humor, compassion, honesty, or love depending on the friend.
2.) I really liked my 20s for my marriage, 30s as I started having my kids, and soon 40s for my out of debt era.
3.) Currently I working out of “Under Pressure” and getting more: “Hakuna Matata” 🤣
Thanks for the tag @Eggs If anyone else would like to play tag me with your responses. 🥰💛
I absolutely love this and need this when I‘m just tired and don‘t want to care for a bit!
1.)We do not care that we dropped off and picked up F to/from summer school in our PJs.
2.) We do not care that we didn‘t bother to paint our toes and wore flip flops.
3.)We also didn‘t care that F read us every single piece of her school work on the Arctic on the way home.
#WDNCW @dabbe Thank you I needed this. 🥰💛
… until a little past the middle. We have our person on trial as the major point of view, and have a few others making comments about their character. By the trail we do have some repetition and the conclusion felt anticlimactic. While we need to remember the time frame in which this happened I was hoping for something more or different to really say I completely enjoyed this book. #FableBR
3✨ A lot is going on in here for all the families through the series. We fast forwarded through time to see their kids are grown, but we also see they all still love each other very much. Coming together for the holidays to reconnect, and surprise. I‘m sad there is only one more book in the series, but have enjoyed the ride. #SeriesLove @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
2✨ I figured out that this was the 22nd book in the series after I started reading it. There is a lot of character development that I missed, and they mention a lot of different cases throughout. There was also a few murders and I don‘t think anything was really resolved by the end. I get that there is more books in the series after, but feel each individual story should have a set end with resolution. Unhauling this #roll100
4✨Another great Dog Man graphic novel all about AI. I always make sure to read the inspiration behind the book, and while there was book references in this one, it was more about AI and how it could comedically take over even if they have a large off switch. It had me laughing out loud in several scenes.
Both my daughter had their dance performances last night. My oldest “F” was in a Harry Potter Scene and my youngest “S” was in an Inside Out Scene. Both did amazing! 🤩 Proud Mama! 🥰
The free library haul and unhauling all the books I didn‘t want in the process. This needs to be a semi regular thing now. 😍
I went to several other free libraries, and thought this was really cute too. 😍
Alice and wonderland themed with card bookmarks! 😍
Yes!! The first book in a series I started. 😍
My kiddos found books at this one and we left some of Mommy‘s! This one is so special. The caregiver for this library made it for her mother who passed away. Her mother was going blind earlier in life and lost her sight completely in the end. She loved listening to audiobooks. This had bookmarks, stickers, glow sticks, and books for all ages. 🥰
I might have this one, but I like this cover. 😍 Did a swap 🥰
I‘ve been collecting some books to unhaul, and today I‘m going to as many free libraries as I can in my community. Excited!
5✨ I absolutely love Hannah‘s storytelling, and this is only the second book I‘ve read! This historical fiction gutted me with the raw emotion based on true events happening in WW2 in France. It followed two sisters and their fight to do the right thing when war caused the horrible events that occurred. While one sister helped soldiers, the other helped her Jewish friends. It provided different perspectives that would have been seen by the women.
3✨ Man, I feel bad that somehow I missed this review when I read the book a few weeks ago. It was interesting because something happens to Jon and they trust her even though she is basically hypnotized. The guys in these books act as if they have never seen a women before, and can‘t function when they are pretty and talking to them. Soldiers included losing all their sense. #SeriesLove @TheSpineView @Andrew65
3✨ I‘m not sure how to write this review because the journey is what is important in this book. We start not knowing really what is going on. All we know is there is “Red” and there is “Blue”. They appear to be rivals taunting each other as they are on two sides of a war. They do this by sending letters to each other. They bounce around in time, and meet each other from time to time. #FableBR @Littlewolf1
5✨ This was not a surprise 5 Star for me because I have read it close to when it was copy written in 2003/2005. I loved it then and I love it now! It also caused me to follow the author ever since. The princess Ani is forced to become Isi and the Goose Girl for the king of her arranged marriages land. All in her company died to save her, but the villain in this story did not anticipate the talents of Ani‘s animal speak, and her determination.
DNF- I‘m pretty sure I inherited this one at some point so put it on my #Roll100 list. We have 4 women that had a falling out and went their separate ways. I liked Maria and was concerned about Alexa and the love triangle she was making. I was also interested in Jessica. I just couldn‘t get into it and when Alexa got to Paris I was disappointed in her actions. Unhauling. #DogsofLitsy “Tess”
4✨ I love these story‘s for telling stories of villain origin stories. This one follows a brand new story unknown to us until the end when it follows the Tangled version of a Rapunzel story. There is the connection with Circe and the three odd sisters as the other books which ties the series together. Snow White made an appearance too! Not a bad story, but parts of it I wasn‘t quite able to picture in the beginning. #SeriesLove “5/13”
4✨ I did not like this at first because of teenagers in a closet. While it might have been predictable it was the love story I wanted for them. Big surprises in the end! Got as a free Kindle book and found out later it was 2.5 in the series so will be looking for the rest of the series.
3✨ A hit and run opens up not only a mystery for the victim, but a mystery she holds completely separate from her own mystery. Not a bad mystery, but there was an undercover mission Clare that didn‘t seem to fit. Still not a fan of her boyfriend. #SeriesLove @Andrew65 @TheSpineView “Book 11/21”
Got the book for #LittensLoveSJM @StayCurious Naturally, I went to the cookie aisle next to find the lemon ones @Megabooks You created a monster @Librarybelle 🤣
DNF- Yes, there is suppose to be a lot of characters in this as the twelve dancing sister retelling. However, I was overwhelmed and lost with them all present the 38% of the book I read. I found myself asking who was talking… then the Gooseboy too? Maybe it ends up really good, but I was too lost to want to navigate through it especially with not being a stand alone.
2✨ What did I just read? Is it me or does part 1 and 2 not match. I‘m so confused. Glad I read this with others. 😅 On a bright note I tried the cookies! #CampLitsy25 @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB @squirrelbrain @Megabooks
4✨Cilka was at Auschwitz‘s with our tattooist from the previous book. Many of the main events in this book were based on the research the author was able to obtain. On this research there is mixed reviews on how Cilka presented herself, but in this environment survival is the first thought that went through all their minds. I enjoyed this as much as I could considering the content, but did need to take a break before finishing it. #SeriesLove
3✨Another solid story to try to find: “the missing things”. We find out in this book the connection between the items they are looking for. A lot of great information on the Amazon rainforest for young readers. My son enjoyed the animal pictures and the peace of the story.
2✨ Let me start with the good. The afterword really brought what the author was going for to light. I think this was a beautiful imagining of the strong minds of women who had to face slavery while they were pregnant. Now with that said much of the story was confusing. Creating a world very unique in only a handful of pages was the main issue. I felt lost and questioned a lot. I‘m glad I read the afterword, but would have appreciated this sooner.
4✨ What an interesting mystery! We start by going three years in the past to learn a little bit about our victim, and then we meet our MC who is a TV producer looking into the murder from the Met Gala. Was it the fiancé, or maybe one of her family members? With no arrests our MC has a lot of digging to do. That ending was really suspenseful! ? Now I‘m going to need to read the rest of the series.
I couldn‘t resist this when I got the email that it was the Barnes and Noble pick for the month. I already added it to my TBR, but when I saw the purple edges. 😍
