The Bookman's Wake
The Bookman's Wake | John Dunning
4 posts | 10 read
Denver cop-turned-bookdealer Cliff Janeway is lured by an enterprising fellow ex-policeman into going to Seattle to bring back a fugitive wanted for assault, burglary, and the possible theft of a priceless edition of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven." The bail jumper turns out to be a vulnerable young woman calling herself Eleanor Rigby, who is also a gifted book finder. Janeway is intrigued by the woman -- and by the deadly history surrounding the rare volume. Hunted by people willing to kill for the antique tome, a terrified Eleanor escapes and disappears. To find her -- and save her -- Janeway must unravel the secrets of the book's past and its mysterious maker, for only then can he stop the hand of death from turning another page....

Pickpick

I've read 4 out of the 5 books in the Cliff Janeway series and they all seem to improve a bit over the previous one. This book deals with a series of deaths that are unconnected until Janeway pieces together that they all owned a specific, numbered copy of The Raven from Grayson Press. But, why were these collectors being targeted? Will I commit a spoiler and reveal why? Quoth the raven, “nevermore.“ 😁 Enjoyed this one.

This was just as good as the first. Now on to the third and hopefully I'll have some luck soon and find the last 2

As a graphic designer, this truth rang out like a bell. Typography is possibly the single most important element in any design

This is the first cliff janeway I found, cheap at a library sale. It took me another year to find the first book in the series and then a month or so after that to finally get around to reading it.
