The Alehouse at the End of the World
The Alehouse at the End of the World | Stevan Allred
3 posts | 2 read | 3 to read
When a fisherman receives a mysterious letter about his beloveds demise, he sets off in his skiff to find her on the Isle of the Dead. The Alehouse at the End of the World is an epic comedy set in the sixteenth century, where bawdy Shakespearean love triangles play out with shapeshifting avian demigods and a fertility goddess, drunken revelry, bio-dynamic gardening, and a narcissistic, bullying crow, who may have colluded with a foreign power. A raucous, aw-aw-aw-awe-inspiring romp, Stevan Allreds second book is a juicy fable for adults, and a hopeful tale for out troubled times.

Still making my way through the tagged book for #bookspinbonanza I think it‘s book number 4?🙈 but I‘ve pulled out books 7 and 11 which is *gasp* out of reading order, but I am quickly losing motivation because of how long it took me to get through the other books. But these two I know I could finish in one sitting. So I‘m going to read these, gain momentum back and then crash back into my correct #bookspin reading order. @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks My first book on the list was hard to get through, so it definitely made me feel like I had no momentum, but I'm finally into my second book and have finished half of it already today!! 5y
Hooked_on_books I‘m on book 6, which was making me stutter a bit, so I‘ve started book 7 as well. I‘ve been eyeing some of the higher numbered books and considered going out of order, too. Aren‘t we rebels?!? 😎😆 5y
RainyDayReading @TheAromaofBooks Woo! Sounds like you're on a roll! I'm still slogging through Alehouse. It's not bad, the story just takes a lot of mental focus that I don't necessarily have haha. 5y
RainyDayReading @Hooked_on_books Haha such rebels! I may or may not have rearranged my #bookspin list a little bit just so I could get a few more reads in 🙈 5y
TheAromaofBooks Definitely swapped a book I should get to this week with one at the bottom of the list so I can use it for June's #ReadYourSign instead 😂 @Hooked_on_books 5y

Haven‘t been around much due to so.much.gardening. But I think I‘ve won the war against the weeds...for now. Currently reading the tagged book for #bookspinbonanza and Locke Lamora for a group read through Instagram. These two may both fall under the ‘Fantasy‘ genre but they are vastly different. Be interesting to see how I fare switching back and forth between them 🤣

LoveToReadLiveToRead Oh I love The Lies of Locke Lamora! It was one of the first real fantasy books I read and I really didn‘t expect to love it as much as I did! I also remember where I was when I read it - on a sun lounger in Bali on my honeymoon! ☀️ 5y
Lesanne I adored The Lies of Locke Lamora! 5y
TheAromaofBooks The weather has finally broken here so I am anticipating the garden sucking up a lot more free time!!! 5y
RainyDayReading @LoveToReadLiveToRead @Lesanne I‘m really loving it so far! I‘m not that far into it and I can tell that it‘s going to be a favorite! 5y
RainyDayReading @TheAromaofBooks I keep hoping we‘ll get some more rain (like we usually do) so I won‘t be tempted outside like I am now that it‘s nice. Doesn‘t the weather know that the plants need rain water and I need to read?🙈🤪 5y

Can always tell when I‘m stressed because I usually find myself wandering into a thrift store and wandering out with books. Here‘s my latest haul. These have all been on my radar for a while but I was surprised to find any of them second hand. But I‘m excited to get to them. You know, when my anxiety calms down and allows me to read again.
