The Faceless Old Woman is eldrich terror. I was worried that a story focused on a character like her, caught in glimpses, out of the corner of your eye, wouldn‘t work. The faceless old woman might either become mundane or be too abstract to bear a narrative. Instead, her amalgamation of love, hate, and obsession renders her pathetic and terrifying, in a way that works for the podcast character. Bonus:There are heists.
I finished the tagged book while doing some #audiocrossstitching just now. I really liked the book, it‘s probably my favourite out of the Night Vale novels. It was a well crafted origin story and I liked that it was a little different from your usual weird Night Vale stuff while still keeping some elements from those. I also really enjoyed Mara Wilson‘s performance of the audiobook. Definitely recommend!
This is probably my favorite of the Night Vale novels. It didn't really have the level of weirdness you expect from Night Vale, but it's still pretty weird. I really liked getting the back story of the faceless old woman who secretly lives in your home and it's a very interesting back story. It kind of had a Count of Monte Cristo feel to it.
This is a fantastic origin story, filled with clever word play, creepy moments, and unfathomable history.
