This week‘s book review is all mysteries and thrillers! #howdouwantit - just like this. These are the kind of books that always break me out of a reading slump or that I reach for when preparing for a long plane ride. Especially loved this map of mysteries set around the world. I think there‘s something for everyone in here. #heatofjuly

BarbaraBB Super interesting map. Which newspaper is it in? Maybe I can find it online! 6y

Pickpick

I started this series'cause #3 helps with a geographic reading list I have for 2018 which has Lesotho on it, but I found myself enjoying the noir-like, matter-of-fact approach to the violence. I was fortunate to spend a month near Jo-berg (Pretoria to be exact) and I remember thinking how odd it was that every place had a wall topped with barbed wire and bars on doors and gates. It's what I lived in whence there but it was still so strange to me.

Pickpick

Pretty good mystery/thriller. A little predictable, but I liked the characters and the setting. The idea of the story, car-jacking when you stop to open the gate of your house, is terrifying and it was quite violent in places though not terribly explicitly.

Well, this loveliness certainly provided me with a LOT of extra audiobook listening time on the commute this afternoon....I don't think I've ever seen that color on a traffic map

brendanmleonard Ohhhh nooo! Hope you got home safe. 8y
bookwrm526 @brendanmleonard it just took an hour longer than usual, and then I found out the delay was a six car wreck in which two people died, and I felt terrible 8y

And now for some murder(s) to be solved (hopefully) by a P.I and superintendent's help in Johannesburg. (Intense beginning)
