Hey Littens,
It's the final weekend to submit your nominations for countries to explore in 2026 for the #foodandlit challenge! What a great excuse to avoid your family for a while, and if you ask me, looking at a map makes it look like important work.
We hope to include countries from these 12 regions. Regions are loose, so use your judgment on where to place a country. Feel free to nominate by commenting on this post. ⬇️

I'm thrilled to be back with @texreader and hate that @Catsandbooks is leaving. I am also frightened. To be fully transparent, I abandoned these ladies when I fell into a huge depression that took me years to recover. Basically, I couldn't read. My mind just couldn't do it, and I left Litsy. No books, why Litsy? Again, I was not myself. I'm in a good place, my children are not being threatened, and I am enjoying lit again. Here's to rdg and eating

Before we open up nominations, your #foodandlit team has a few announcements. @Butterfinger (our founder and who I met in person this summer and we had a blast!) will start cohosting again this year! We will miss our very valued team member @Catsandbooks who was instrumental in helping us keep it going through the years. And her artwork has been phenomenal. And we have a new artist! Welcome @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick to our team!

My Peruvian meal - bought Peruvian Style Roast Chicken Marinade from Inca's Food (Aderezo Pollo la Brasa) and a baked potato to honor where potatos originated.

I am not a people person, so I didn't visit an Irish pub on St. Patrick's Day. I got chicken pot pie from Claddaugh's Restaurant in Asheville. We're going to try boxty tomorrow. My mother used to fry potato cakes when we were running out of food before payday. With a big mess of beans. The memories that food evokes. I wonder if it came down from Irish ancestors.

I had planned to try to read & cook more for #FoodAndLit this year than last year, but I‘m struggling to find books or recipes that fit my mood this month. Then I saw a recipe posted by @Texreader along with her adaptation and decided to give it a try myself. I had some smoked sausage & sauerkraut made by my family that I used to make a slightly modified version of this broodje rookworst on toasted bread.

In the better late than never category, we finally made it downtown to Schilos today for German food. I had the “Taste of #Germany” with bratwurst, schweinsnitzel, German potato salad, red cabbage, and sauerkraut. #foodandlit @Catsandbooks

In elementary school, I had a friend whose parents were political emigres from Communist Cuba. I fondly remember the music, the stories, and the food from this special family. I never eat bananas, but I ate Ms. Rodriguez's fried plantains so that is what I fixed for #Cuba #FoodandLit @texreader @Catsandbooks

I am always running behind with my #foodandlit meals. I‘m finally across town and able to get the best Greek food here. I‘m awaiting our gyros but as you can see I cannot pass up baklava. #Greece

Came from Argentina. Delicious 😋. #FoodandLit @Catsandbooks @Texreader
