"It All Comes Back to You is one of those stories you need to savor. You want to put the book down so as to have more to read tomorrow, but you can't. It becomes attached to you, a part of you." Dan Brown, Author of Reunion Alabama, 1947. War's over, cherry print dresses, parking above the city lights, swing dancing. Beautiful, seventeen-year-old Violet lives in a perfect world. Everybody loves her. In 2012, she's still beautiful, charming, and surrounded by admirers. Veronica "Ronni" Johnson, licensed practical nurse and aspiring writer, meets the captivating Violet in the assisted living facility where Violet requires no assistance, just lots of male attention. When she dies, she leaves Ronni a very generous bequest, only if Ronni completes a book about her life within one year. As she's drawn into the world of young Violet, Ronni is mesmerized by life in a simpler time. It's an irresistible journey filled with revelations, some of them about men Ronni knew as octogenarians at Fairfield Springs. Struggling, insecure, flailing at the keyboard, Ronni juggles her patients, a new boyfriend, and a Samsonite factory of emotional baggage as she tries to craft a manuscript before her deadline. But then the secrets start to emerge, some of them in person. And they don't stop. Everything changes. Alternating chapters between Homecoming Queen Violet in 1947 and can't-quite-find-her-crown Ronni in the present, IT ALL COMES BACK TO YOU is Southern Fiction at its hilarious, warm, sad, outrageous, uplifting, and stunning best. In the tradition of Major Pettigrew's Last Stand and Olive Kitteridge, Duke delivers an unforgettable elderly character to treasure and a young heroine to steal your heart.

Bland & fluffy, this was a gentle & undemanding workout for my eyes & brain. Not exactly outstanding literature, but not entirely unpleasant either. Mildly entertaining rather than edifying. Middle of the road & more or less instantly forgettable. Overwhelmingly OK with a touch of meh. Not bad, not great. Interesting enough, but cheesy & predictable in places.

Not sure how many more ways I can say it - So-So.

This was a fast read with some potential, I did like Ronnie and how her character developed but the rest of the story line was just meh

There was a lot I didn't like about this book. I didn't like a few of the main characters. I didn't like how some things seemed forced or even rushed. I didn't like how every character was somehow magically connected in some way. It felt too unrealistic, which is saying a lot for a fictitious story.

I did like Violet, as a character. I felt like her story was wonderfully written.

📖📚Happy Reading!📚📖

There were a lot of unexpected twists and turns in this novel. I enjoyed the banter between the characters and the descriptions of everything. I felt the men were a little too clingy/creepy for my taste and the story felt way too unrealistic. It was an easy read though.

I started this book because it was free, expecting an easy fluff read. I got so much more than that. Unexpected twists, lovable characters, and more heart than I‘ve ever seen in a book. Definitely recommend.

This was definitely a page turner. It was beautifully written. The story transports the reader between two worlds of two women from two eras. I highly recommend this book!

I loved the intermingling of Violet and Ronni's stories as their friendship develops. Violet was a small town homecoming queen whom everyone adored but love didn't seem to be in the cards for her after multiple tragedies. She lived a privileged life as the wife of a successful doctor but things are not always what they seem. The secrets of the past come to light in an unexpected ending. This story will stay with you long after you've finished!

I love this book! Our book group read it a few months ago. The two main characters, Violet and Ronni, both overcome so much and I grew to love them. Best of all, there‘s a twist at the end I never saw coming! We all really liked it.
