Set in a small seaside town, Astrid lives with her mother in the shadow of her recent release from rehab. Struggling with her addiction to alcohol, Astrid begins making new connections in town- while trying to convince herself that her past is behind her. But soon it‘s clear that there‘s something more than her memories stalking her... Astrid is not unsympathetic but this is not a very fun read- & I guessed the plot‘s twist quite early. #NetGalley

This book is intriguing, suspenseful and unbelievable. Astrid is an alcoholic trying to get over her addiction. She lives with her mom, thinks she's being followed, and receiving strange messages. The messages tell of something she did, but only one person knows what. Who did they tell?

I‘m on this trend of slow-going books lately, but this one picked up its rating with the twists. The main character is unlikeable and somewhat repetitive, but you may end up liking her in the end? ⚠️ Trigger warnings: suicide and loss of a child.

Thanks #NetGalley!!

I truly became invested in Astrid‘s story. With strong writing techniques, such as how when the author explains a scent you can smell it too, it was all very clever. However, some sentences felt too structured and clean, this is a story about addiction, sentences should reflect her mind; be more messy and break some rules! All in all a great book though, I liked how when you thought you‘d reached the climax you were actually only half way there.
