Mehso-so

This novel focuses on the pivotal moment when anti-democratic forces attempted a coup against Boris Yeltsin in 1991. It was interesting but overstuffed with whimsical subplots (one entire chapter was devoted to a soccer game between aging Soviet all-stars and a Romanian team of amateurs; a python was prominently featured, and so was a hedgehog.) Even if it wasn't entirely my cup of tea, it certainly provided some historical perspective.
