This is a great halloween poem book. It has lots of fun rhymes and spooky stories throughout the book. The poem I liked best was The Jekyll Lantern. This one was very fun because it had a different rhythm than some of the other poems I had read. It had a rhythm that reminded me of a song that was 3/4 beat. I also really liked that it referred to classic literature Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. This could be a great poem for students of all ages.

This anthology is really spooky and would be really good for all ages around Halloween. The space and rhythm of each poem give the reader an exciting feeling about Halloween.

This book is a Halloween anthology that is filled with creepy poems. The book is filled with 17 poems. It talks about witches, demons ghosts, and many more. The poems embedded in this book demonstrate a highly visual experience.

This collection of poems would be great in any grade level classroom. I noticed it could be used within a vocab lesson in 1st-4th grade to cover spooky words during a Halloween themed week. It also has a lot of rhyming that could be used to teach rhyme to Kindergarteners and 1st graders.

This is a collection of spooky Halloween poems. I found myself to really enjoy the Glumm poem on page 8. This poem uses rhyming at the end of each stanza and alliteration with words beginning with G. It has a very gutteral sound when reading it and it makes it kind of difficult, like a tongue twister, but it is also simple and fun.

I would use this poem with my students as an entertaining way to introduce rhyming. I think that they would enjoy the story of Medusa and find her magical powers and unique look as intriguing- they may even think turning to stone is funny. I would ask students to identify rhyming words in the short poem and analyze what they think, hear, see, or smell while reading.

The poem “Medusa“ talks about how Medusa has a team to take care of her hair by oiling her scalp and untangling her snakes. Sometimes they make a mistake and look at her face. This poem uses rhyming with help and scalp, snakes, rakes, and mistakes, basis and face is, and chance and glance. When I read this poem, I immediately see a head of snakes hissing and jabbing at the men trying to comb them and I hear Medusa laughing.

Not all Halloween picture books are created equally, and this one is a bit of a dud. I did like a few of the poems, esp The Jekyll Lantern and the Gambling Ghost. Maya liked it more than I did, so it does get a 👍 from the middle schooler.
