Can't believe it took me this long to actually read Carmilla. I loved it!! I especially loved Carmen Maria Machado's footnotes and intro. I would highly recommend this edition!

The Book Eaters was another vampiric delight! The MC was so strong -- I loved that she was not your typical "princess" and that the narrative showed her really struggling with the horror of certain choices.

If you're just a bit angry, like me, I'd recommend some hard core cardio, writing your feelings and listening to Jodi Picoult's "Choice" on Audible. It flips the script. What if one day men woke up pregnant and they didn't have the right to choose?

BookwormAHN That book sounds like it should be mandatory reading right now. 3mo

KathyWheeler Okay — I liked this book a lot, but it‘s frequently classified as satire or dark humor; classifications I don‘t understand as I found it to be neither. For you, did it fit those classifications? 5mo

This is the first book I've stayed up all night for in a while. I loved Jalaluddin's first book (Ayesha at Last) so much and this one was just as excellent! Her characters are vibrant and relatable and, as an added bonus, she has now retold Pride and Prejudice and You've Got Mail (two of my favorite things) in modern-day Canadian Muslim communities. Apparently once I start one her books, I just can't stop. Clearly a writer after my own heart! 💜
