Wuthering Heights | Emily Bront

Wuthering Heights is one that has been on my TBR for way too long, especially considering I love gothic classics!

Scarlet Letter is a classic that, while not actively on my TBR, I‘ve meant to get to since I read some for a class and loved it!

Scochrane26 I‘m glad you like the Scarlet Letter, but I loathed it in high school. I love Wuthering Heights, have read it at least 3 times, but the characters are horrible people. 2d
Linsy @Scochrane26 Well, I haven‘t read the whole thing, so you probably have a better idea! 😆 2d
Linsy @Scochrane26 Good to know. I won‘t expect to like the characters, which isn‘t necessary. But you liking it that much makes me want to read it more!! 2d
Scochrane26 @linsy I find that sometimes a book we hate when we are younger is better when we are older. Or vice versa. There‘s quite a few classics that others love that I don‘t like. Hope you try both out! 2d
Linsy @Scochrane26 Good point 😄 I‘m definitely going to try both! 1d

My Plain Jane | Jodi Meadows, Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand
post image

Expectations, am I right?

I was hesitant starting My Plain Jane because I loved Lady Jane so freaking much. And then I was pleasantly surprised! Very much its own thing, while still rocking the Princess Bride vibe.

Conversely, I loved Uprooted so so much I just couldn‘t wait, so I read the short story that eventually became Spinning Silver. It spoiled it for me. I‘ll never know if I‘d have liked it more had I not read the story.

#GratefulReads

Loved my first Lucy Worsley! I‘ve been a fan of her documentaries for a while, so it‘s no wonder I enjoyed her style. This book was a fascinating mix of historical true crime, early forensic science and literary history.

I finally finished October‘s read for #AgathaChristieClubR2! This was my second time through The Secret Adversary, and I loved it! Although it does start awfully slow. Tuppence is my favorite; I can‘t help smiling every time she speaks. I did cringe every time an American was described though — Is that how the British truly saw us? Is that how we were? (Are we still seen that way??) I felt the same way reading Conan Doyle last month. 🧐
