Sarah Bennett doesn't remember the night her mother tumbled down the stairs at Bennett House, despite allegedly witnessing the fatal fall. There was talk of foul play, dark whispers, and sidelong glances, all aimed at Sarah, prompting her family to send her to The Laurels, an exclusive asylum in San Francisco, under a cloud of suspicion. Now, on the one-year anniversary of her mother's murder, Sarah has been summoned home. Convinced of her innocence, she returns to Bennett House, hoping to put the broken pieces of her life back together. But when another murder occurs shortly after her arrival, Sarah once again finds herself a suspect, as she is drawn into a web of suspicion and lies. In order to clear her name, Sarah must remember what happened the fateful night her mother died. But as she works to regain her memory, the real murderer watches, ready to kill again to protect a dark family secret.

Pickpick

Utterly bonkers gothic historical mystery set in America during WWII. The plot is insane and romps along at a cracking pace. The heroine sees ghosts. It's all you can do as a reader to keep up! It's to the detriment of charactersation tho, and the romance in particular is not exactly dwelt on - they are in love on day two and you don't really get a sense of who Zeke is. Nevertheless, this is a fun read on unlimited.

A nice easy read, reminiscent of my perennial favourite author, Victoria Holt. I do love gothic mysteries and this one had chills in all the right places.

My first autographed book, um novel, (I do have an autographed copy of Barry Manilow's autobiography but I don't normally admit to it).

Look what arrived in my letterbox today! I have searched for this for the longest time and thanks to the wonderful author I have my very own autographed copy. I can't wait to get started. My phone will chase away all would-be interrupters.

Chelsey I want that phone case!!! 8y
Jhullie It's great isn't is Chelsey! Perfectly sums it up I think! 8y
