'Sweet-heart, remember when days are forlorn
It al-ways is dar-kest before the dawn'
Such a hopeful quote for anyone that's having a down day! 🥰

Coming from Aotearoa NZ I‘d always been interested to read Mansfield. Not really for me however. The characters and situations lean into ‘hysterical women‘, the events not all that interesting. I enjoyed the descriptions of places, furniture, clothing, transport but ultimately after 50 or so pages I had to put this down.

"What can you do if you are thirty and, turning the corner of your own street, you are overcome, suddenly by a feeling of bliss - absolute bliss! - as though you'd suddenly swallowed a bright piece of that late afternoon sun and it burned in your chest, sending out a little shower of sparks into every particle, into every finger and toe?" ~ Bliss by Katherine Mansfield

(miss posting for prompts ;o)
I like Mansfield's 'no-frills' style of writing.
