LeslieO There‘s something about a book with teacups on the cover. 2y
BarkingMadRead @LeslieO right?? The first one in the series had books on the cover, so it‘s been a win win all around! 2y
LeslieO @BarkingMadRun I have been known to purchase a book solely because there were teacups on the cover. 2y

I liked the second book in the series even better than the first. I wish Dove Pond was a real place. There is a budding romance story, but the books are more about the female friendships in this small town. If you like Sweet Magnolias, you will like these books. The food descriptions in the books have triggered some cravings. I had some cinnamon muffins, blts, and this lemon meringue cake. Get your favorite cuppa ready before you start reading!

Second in a series focused around the “magically-favored” Dove sisters of Dove Pond, NC. Ava is the 6th sister of 7 and her “gift” is nurturing and having empathy with plants. She owns a nursery and is set to open a cafe to specifically showcase her teas which can help folks in extraordinary ways. Kristen is a teenager who works for Ava who has just lost her mom to cancer. Her estranged grandmother (and now guardian) wants to sell Kristen‘s 🔻

robinb home and move her to Raleigh to live with her.
There are several storylines going on here…will Ava‘s cafe survive when she‘s beset with problems before it opens; will Ava and her sister, Sarah, find love; will Kristen track down her unknown father; will Kristen and her grandmother put aside their differences and compromise? 🔻

robinb Obviously there‘s A LOT going on here. I was a bit underwhelmed (as I was with the first book) as I‘ve always loved this author. But somehow I‘m just not connecting with these quirky characters and unique town as I thought I would. Still it is well written and plenty to enjoy about it. 4/5⭐️ 3y

I received this as an ARC from Edelweiss and it was just the sort of lovely, charming book I was craving. Think a less dark Alice Hoffman story set in a small town with all of the gossip and connections.

robinb I love Hawkins‘ books. ❤️ 3y
