Pickpick

The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister is a classic MF and Christopher award winner. My child, Kevin (pictured above), absolutely loved it as you can tell from his smile. The story is about a beautiful fish and his beautiful scales. He learns that his appearance isn't everything and isn't true happiness. He ends up sharing his rainbow scales with all the other fish, and though he isn't the most beautiful anymore, he did find happiness. #UCFLAE3414SP20

Agavitt1 This book is great for RA. https://www.teacher.org/lesson-plan/rainbow-fish/ offers a good lesson plan, as well as fun craft to do with students after reading.

The UDL principle 5.2 Use multiple tools for construction and composition: In the lesson plan above, the Rainbow Fish video is used. Showing this to students even prior or after reading is using multiple tools for students to really comprehend the reading.

Agavitt1 ESOL strategy 17. Provide contextual support through audio visuals, models,
demonstrations, realia, body language and facial expressions. This can be reached by using the video above, and being very engaging while reading.

LeahH I also did “The Rainbow Fish.” This was always one of my favorite books growing up! I loved the shinny scales in the book! I like how this book talks about sharing and making friends! This relates to the Palacio-kindness video we watched a Barnes and Noble! 5y
DrSpalding Leah made an excellent connection between two texts! This book is all about sharing which is a theme you certainly want to emphasize with your elementary students. 5y
