This is a stunning collection of short stories-one that Akashic can be proud of. There were only 2 stories that disappointed me, out of 14, and a couple that were absolutely stunning. I liked that most of these weren't gratuitously graphic. Several, in fact, were stories I wouldn't consider “noir“, but were nonetheless beautifully written, including the fable.

Isn‘t the way language evolves fascinating? 🤓

“On the other side of town, in the Kibera slums, hundreds of thousands are hemmed into a few hectares of earth, without running water or electricity, so dwellers have invented “flying toilets.” Nothing lofty, really, just a mound of shit wrapped in polythene and hurled to the farthest reach of the arm.”

Work was chaotic and stressful today with no time to even break for lunch. But, I came home to #bookmail, so all is right with my world again. 😍😆💖
