Orchid has settled in a new town as her mother recovers from cancer. She‘s got a job tending the orchids & a new husband. But there‘s something lurking in the rivers, looking for revenge.

This novella felt like prose poetry, & I loved it. The real life horror of abusive, power hungry men paired w/ mythological creatures waiting was so well done. I would have loved for this to be expanded a bit more as the resolution felt a bit abrupt.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

A perfect blend of humor, suspense, and romance. Rav was a great main character and I really enjoyed every side character as well.

Reading Zarna‘s memoir and everything she has gone through to get to where she is has made me even more of a fan. This book will make you laugh and at the same time tug at your heartstrings.

At this point I think I‘d cry just reading Backman‘s grocery list, he‘s that poignant and great of a writer. His newest novel explores the depth of friendship and finding one‘s self in the world. While I think it‘s a little bit slower pace than some of his other works, it still carries the depth, humor, and great characters we have come to love from Backman.

Delightful! A wonderful, West African influenced twist on Alice in Wonderland. A story of self discovery, where curiosity can take you, what you leave behind, & what you can move towards. Afia was a wonderful protagonist, & the illustrations were all gorgeous!🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

I‘ve always liked Zarna‘s humor and she has been popping up a lot on my feed lately. Going through my lists of April ARCs this morning I discovered I have her new memoir. I‘m so excited! ☺️ #arc #NetGalley

There was a point while reading this novel where I almost gave up on it because I felt I was not getting it. But, I kept reading and it turned into one of the most beautiful examples of how the use of language can just turn your emotions into a rollercoaster.
