What happens when a miserable farm wife gains access to a wizard‘s books of magics & thinks “why not”? Chaos. & then add a sassy familiar, the goblin market getting introduced to capitalism, & a talking plant.

Such fun! You can tell this is a writer raised on Terry Pratchett. There‘s humor & a moving story of a woman deciding what she‘s worth. I wish the side characters hadn‘t been so 1 dimensional, & too many threads left unresolved. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

4.5⭐️

Our Beautiful Boys is a look at how boys will be boys. Three high school boys that become kind of friends after one joins the high school football team at the end of the season. One is white, one Latina, and one is Indian (hus family from India). One night the all 3 go to a party. What happens effects not only them but also their families. Secrets will come out.

Sameer Pandya wrote a slow burn of a book that kept me engaged ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read throughout. His characters were complex and developed well over the course of the book. The ending surprised me because I never considered it.

Thanks to Goodreads, Ballantine Books, and Sameer Pandya for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed the mystery and suspense of this novel — did the man (Anders) stalking Shaw really kill her sister, Thea — but I struggled with liking the characters. The main reason for this was the dialogue and internal monologue of Shaw. There were so many clichéd sayings and idioms, sometimes she read like a caricature. I could never take her seriously.

⭐️⭐️?

Danika has a lot on her plate between doing tarot readings & working for her mother‘s detective agency. She finally gets to use her skills when a classmate disappears, & she gets to lead her 1st case.

Such fun! A strong narrative voice for Danika, pacing was mostly good (if a bit slow in the middle), & I loved all the characters. The final reveal didn‘t feel as set up as I wanted, but would definitely read a whole series of Danika! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Pub Day: 17th July 2025

It's been some time since I read a book that pulled me into the story so much that I forgot I was reading about fictional characters. Yes, sure, it's unlikely I'll meet a speaking fox in my life and there might not be real magic out there, but all the characters felt very real. Believable backstories, believable problems and struggles.

I want to visit Batty Hole Inn and hug all of them.

These idiots sort of all deserve each other. Unfortunately there are murdery things happening as well. Setting is Lake Como in Italy.

The depictions of single motherhood were very accurate and then adding to that mix becoming best friends with your Baby Daddy‘s other Baby Mama? 🤯

Was this messy? Of course, it was! But, the way these women rose to the challenge just because they wanted to support each other and have the kids grow up together was a beautiful thing to read.

Loved, LOVED this story!

Reggie Awww there was a short on YouTube where these 2 best friends moved in together with their kids and they found it much more supportive and easier than living with their ex husbands. Nice review! 4d

After Yeva kills her 1st dragon, she is sent to the capital of the Empire to train as a guildknight. Eventually, the Emperor commands her to a nearby country w/ rumors of dragons. But the rumors, & the country itself, are not what they seem.

Yang‘s world building always captivates me. & the queer normative cultures are amazing. This is a lovely, quick tale of finding where one belongs, discovering what duty really means, & finding love.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

This book was wild! I even enjoyed the long chapters at the beginning, the storytelling was that engaging. We follow 4 characters and their intertwining stories.

I loved the writing on this. My only complaint is that I wished we'd gotten more of a story on Akari (the last chapter felt like it had too many things happening and I felt that some questions were left unanswered).
