This book was enjoyable for the most part, until it became aimless and I just wanted it to end.
We follow Allison, who is still dealing with the grief of losing her brother and gets into a relationship with her Dad‘s favorite radio host.
I feel that this would‘ve worked better as a short story, the author is a good storyteller but it just didn‘t work for me as a novel. #arc

High Season is a book that deals with a death that occurred 20 years ago. Nina Drayton's sister, Tam, was killed. Nina, at age 6, was the star witness. She said she saw Josie Jackson, her babysitter, kill her. Don't worry, I'm not spoiling anything 😊 The reader gets this info in the first chapter. The question you have to ask yourself is: Is a child 6 years old a good witness?
The book is divided into 4 parts and flips back and ⬇️
Here‘s my review. I forgot to mention that this book has a playlist and I really liked that. The song I‘m choosing for this book because it‘s on the playlist is You Look Like You Love Me by Ella Langley and Riley Green. It‘s a really cute song.

A good mix of romance and historical events. The second in a series best read in order.

I picked this up because it was described as ‘queer YA fantasy debut set in ancient Pompeii‘
I was intrigued by the fantasy element. I don't read historical fiction set in Ancient Rome as I studied it and I get caught up on the details.
Unfortunately for me, the magical element isn't really that present. There's several different plots going on and the political and social plot was given more time than the magic and I wasn't that interested.

This is a decent follow up book. I have no idea if I would read the next in this series.
