The new novel in the transporting New York Times bestselling Inspector Montalbano mystery series Vigta is bustling as the new filming location for a Swedish television series set in 1950. In the production frenzy, the director asks the locals to track down movies and vintage photos to faithfully recreate the air of Vigata in that time. Engineer Ernesto Sabatello, while rummaging in the attic of his house, finds some films shot by his father from 1958 to 1963, always on the same day, March 27 and always the same shot; the outside wall of a country house. Montalbano hears the story, and intrigued by the mystery of it, begins to investigate its meaning. Meanwhile, a middle school is threatened by a group of armed men, and a closer look at the situation finds Montalbano looking into the students themselves and finally delving into the world of social media.

Pickpick

My dear friend Montalbano takes me to Vigata and makes me laugh while he's solving mysteries. I love his ruminations and his quirks. This is the last one I didn't read. Right now I'm in mourning. I never reread books, but I'm going to make exception for this 5 star series. The audiobooks are the best because the voice of Catarella cracks me up!

Andrew65 @Crazeedi There are three more books after this one and they are the last. This is what Camilleri said about the last one. 3y
Andrew65 @Crazeedi "At eighty, I foresaw Montalbano's departure from the scene, I got the idea and I didn't let it slip away. So I found myself writing this novel which is the final chapter; the last book in the series. And I sent it to my publisher saying to keep it in a drawer and to publish it only when I am gone." –Andrea Camilleri 3y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 I read this one that comes after safety net, so I guess there are 2 more left for me. I'm almost afraid to know what his last book is about! 3y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 have you ever listened to any of the audiobooks? Because even though I rarely do audio, these books are hilarious on the audio!! His voice as Catarella is hilarious!! 3y
Andrew65 @Crazeedi Know but giving your thoughts I plan to. 3y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 you wont be sorry, it's very fun to listen 3y

Sitting outside listening to my favorite author, and I thought of you @squirrelbrain , and I took a couple photos for you! They raid our bird feeders daily!! And I think there may be a nest in the old apple tree

squirrelbrain Aw cute! We had one last year that kept stealing bird seed, but it hasn‘t been back this year. I wonder if you‘ll see any babies? 🐿❤️ 3y
Crazeedi @squirrelbrain not sure, I'll keep watching the holes in this old tree! 3y
