pickA low Pick. Featuring an affair between 2 of the most vile characters I've read in a good while, and scenes of domestic abuse & animal cruelty that I felt were a little too hard-hitting for a book described as "smart and witty." It has an intriguing premise that runs out of steam in the last quarter, and, as much as I enjoyed the explanatory flashbacks, the main narrative doesn't have much resolution. Also, the vile mother needed her comeuppance!
