6 posts | 5 read | 1 to read
**PRE-ORDER THE BRAND-NEW THRILLER FROM THE #1 SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER** **'A TERRIFIC WRITER' MARK BILLINGHAM** **PETER MAY: OVER 4.5 MILLION COPIES SOLD WORLDWIDE** Set in Southern Spain, A Silent Death is the scorching new thriller from worldwide bestselling author of The Lewis Trilogy, Cast Iron and I'll Keep You Safe. A SILENT VOW Spain, 2020. When ex-pat fugitive Jack Cleland watches his girlfriend die, gunned down in a pursuit involving officer Cristina Sanchez Pradell, he promises to exact his revenge by destroying the policewoman. A SILENT LIFE Cristina's aunt Ana has been deaf-blind for the entirety of her adult life: the victim of a rare condition named Usher Syndrome. Ana is the centre of Cristina's world - and of Cleland's cruel plan. A SILENT DEATH John Mackenzie - an ingenious yet irascible Glaswegian investigator - is seconded to aid the Spanish authorities in their manhunt. He alone can silence Cleland before the fugitive has the last, bloody, word. Peter May's latest bestseller unites a strong, independent Spaniard with a socially inept Scotsman; a senseless vendetta with a sense-deprived victim, and a red-hot Costa Del Sol with an ice-cold killer.

#ASilentDeath #PeterMay

Spain, Jack Cleland watches his girlfriend die, he promises to destroy Christina, the policewoman involved. Cristina's aunt Ana has been deaf and blind and is the center of Cleland's plan. John Mackenzie, Glaswegian investigator, is assigned to aid the Spanish authorities in their manhunt. He alone can silence Cleland. Atmospheric but not one of his best books but still an ok read. I look forward to reading Lockdown next.

The first Peter May book I did not love. The writing and pace were off. The crimes were horrible, had a big impact on the family involved, but it left me cold. A Scottish policeman is meant to pick up a Scottish drug lord from Costa del Crime. He escapes on the way to the airport. Spaniards are killed, and the criminal will no longer be handed over to Scotland. He blames the death of his gf on a police, and goes after her and her family. 3 stars.

Susanita Yikes. I love Peter May, but this sounds a bit cringey. 5y
Tove_Reads @Susanita I love his books, but it didn‘t feel like he has written this one. There was a looong chapter about how this woman met the love of her life etc. Not his style at all. 5y
