Dreams of Distant Shores
Dreams of Distant Shores | Patricia A. McKillip
6 posts | 7 read | 6 to read
Featuring three brand-new stories and an original introduction by Peter S. Beagle, author of The Last Unicorn. Bestselling author Patricia A. McKillip (The Riddle-Master of Hed) is one of the most lyrical writers gracing the fantasy genre. With the debut of her newest work, Dreams of Distant Shores is a true ode to her many talents. Within these pages you will find a youthful artist possessed by both his painting and his muse and seductive travelers from the sea enrapturing distant lovers. The statue of a mermaid comes suddenly to life, and two friends are transfixed by a haunted estate. Fans of McKillip’s ethereal fiction will find much to delight them; those lucky enough to be discovering her work will find much to enchant them.

Had a bit of a reading slump in April. I just felt restless and had a difficult time getting into books at first. These three books were excellent and once I was able to get into them, I plowed through them. It was just getting past the beginning. I hope May will be a better reading month.

Library book haul.

booksandsympathy @CoverToCoverGirl Oh good. I have been nervous about that one since I love Anna Lee Huber's other series so much. 7y
CoverToCoverGirl It‘s as good IMO. 😊 7y

The last story in DREAMS OF DISTANT SHORES took me past the five-hour mark! I think I'll tackle another episode of GEEK ACTUALLY next, followed by some comics. #24in48

Pickpick

I have a weird relationship with McKillip. Her novels leave me cold, but her short fiction blows my mind. I'm so, so glad I finally settled in with this most excellent collection, which dropped last June. It's packed with stories about people who must learn see the world in a different light if they're to move forward. My favourite was "The Gorgon In the Cupboard," but they're all worth your time. #24in48

I'm easing into #24in48 over breakfast with a little more of this excellent short fiction collection. I've got an hour or so of family stuff after that, but then it's down to work with my audiobook for company.

My ability to concentrate on longer stuff is currently AWOL, so I'm gonna read another of Patricia A. McKillip's short stories. Of course, I'm on the longest one in the whole collection...
