It started with one little lie. But Jane Hardy will do everything in her power to uncover the truth in this gripping new romantic suspense. Jane Hardy is appointed interim sheriff in Pelican Harbor, Alabama, after her father retires, but there's no time for an adjustment period. When her father is arrested for theft and then implicated in a recent murder, Jane quickly realizes she's facing someone out to destroy the only family she has. After escaping with her father from a cult fifteen years ago, Jane has searched relentlessly for her motherwho refused to leaveever since. Could someone from that horrible past have found them? Reid Bechtol is well-known for his documentaries, and his latest project involves covering Jane's career. Jane has little interest in the attention, but the committee who appointed her loves the idea of the publicity. Jane finds herself depending on Reid's calm manner as he follows her around filming, and they begin working together to clear her father. But Reid has his own secrets from the past, and the gulf between them may be impossible to crossespecially once her fathers lie catches up with him. Colleen Coble always raises the notch on romantic suspense, and One Little Lie is my favorite yet! The story took me on a wild and wonderful ride. I never give one star ratings but this book just had absolutely no redeeming qualities. Besides the Christian propaganda which I didn‘t know I was getting, the plot was convoluted and outlandish, and I found the characters to be unlikable. This was the first book in a series of three and I have no desire whatsoever to continue on with book #2.

Pickpick

Police Chief Jane Hardy finds herself suddenly promoted to chief of police in her small community after her fathers retirement. Her already complicated life becomes even more complicated with a series of brutal, bizarre homicides, followed by a series of strange disappearances. In the middle, Reid, a videographer who has a magnetic pull on Jane shows up in town. A fun, fast paced mystery that ends with me wanting more.

Another great mystery by Colleen Coble. The main mystery was revealed at a great pace along with secondary secrets.

This book caught me a bit off guard - I expected a murder mystery but this was a Christian murder mystery. It reminded me of watching Veggie Tales with my daughter. I did forsee the ending of the book but I liked the characters. If you enjoy faith based books I would recommend.

In the small town of Pelican Harbor, Alabama, newly-appointed police chief Jane Hardy must prove her capability in dealing with a vigilante, murder, abduction, and allegations against her father—plus journalist Reid Bechtol, as he films her for a documentary. It‘s a lot to handle, even without taking the secrets of her past into account—and proves to be an entertaining, over-the-top story of secrets, suspicion, and a lie that changed everything.

Colleen Coble knows how to write romantic suspense. In this book, weaves the lives of a father-daughter duo who escape a cult compound into a small town in Alabama that suddenly sees a multitude of murders and violence. The plot moves fast with plenty of adrenaline, action, and unforeseen twists; romance is subtle. From one little lie in each of the character's past and/or present, they collide into each other in one brilliantly plotted story.
