Book 82

I listened to The Shape of Mercy by Susan Meissner. Lauren, a college student, is hired by Abigail, a retired librarian, to transcribe the diary of her ancestor, Mercy, a woman accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials. The story is engaging from the beginning and the characters are diverse and dimensional. I did occasionally feel frustrated by Lauren's decisions, which means I was invested in the story. I recommend! 4 🌟s

4⭐ I devoured this book in less than a day. Lauren is a poor little rich girl who takes a job transcribing a 300 year old diary of Mercy, who was condemned as a witch in Salem. But it's also a story of lost love and sacrifice, and of tearing down preconceived notions. Good book!

I finished another one. The setting for part is the Salem witch trials. The other part is contemporary.

Wonderful story of a privileged college girl that happens upon a job transcribing the 300 year old diary of a young girl involved in the Salem Witch Trials. Well written and powerful, Lauren learns a great deal about herself, as she learns about life in the late 1600s and the present day life of the diary's owner. http://www.history.com/topics/salem-witch-trials #UCFLAE3414sp17

juliek1 I'll definitely check this out. The Salem witch trials have fascinated me ever since I first learned about them as a child. 7y
