This book was deep, compelling, and rich in history. It has stayed with me long after finishing it. This one will make you think. #Christianfiction #inspirational

This is a book that will stay with me for a long time. It's not a light read. The story was woven with history, and there are no flat secondary characters. This isn't a book I'd recommend for young readers. Some of the subject matter is adult, with a few occasions of violence, but it is clean. Just like in real life, there's both good and bad in people, and the distinction between whose side you're on isn't always easy. Good read. #Christyaward

I've always had a soft spot for historical fiction, and this book did not disappoint. The characters and their motivations were well developed in the changing climate after the Civil War. Although it is a romance, the story takes a serious look at what happens after the fight is over and people on opposite sides need to find a way to relate. I teared up, laughed out loud, and enjoyed the rich setting. Worth the read. #Christian #inspirational

melyndarae I love historical fiction! 7y
melyndarae Have you read the Love Comes Softly series? Idk if it would be considered historical though lol. 7y
HeatherTabata I have read the first several! I really like them. The Canadian West series by Janette Oke is really good too. Especially the first book. Have you tried them? 7y

This first in the series has a rich setting and well-rounded characters. With an unflinching look at the power of forgiveness and redemption, this is a book that will stick with you after you're finished. The ending is satisfying, but I'll definitely be reading the next book because I can't let the characters go. #Christian #inspirational #inspy #historicalfiction
