Did I buy this copy for the cover? Absolutely. It fits the story far better than others I've seen. I still don't know why this book isn't more popular, though it is older now. This one has been on my mind even more lately. I can't imagine why. While this world is too extreme when it comes to how men are treated, it definitely makes you wonder how a world run by women would be different. Even "War Is A Racket" pondered why it might be better.

I read this so long ago but it has stuck with me. So I bought a 1st edition off eBay. (Even though I'm not usually a fan of hardcovers.) I'll have to give this a re-read and see what I might have missed the 1st time around.

It can b argued that in Arvil & Biranas story gender equality is shown through cruelty, that men & women are both vile & evil creatures in their own right, but it's not easy to compare their cruelties. What's worse: death or a life of torture? (Can you guess what the female & male counterpart of that statement is?)
I loved TSOW, it was a bit wordy at times but how harshly beautiful this "love" story was & the debates this book could bring on WOW

I was excited to see this in my favorite indie bookstore. I read this a while ago on my kindle and really enjoyed it. It has such an interesting plot. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys sci-fi. I'm not sure why it is considered "feminist" sci-fi though.

Think 1984 + Brave New World + Clan of the Cave Bear. It was an interesting look at human behavior. Not a feminist book if feminism is defined as women are equal to men in value. This book put the value squarely on women. I found it an interesting read and left me with points to ponder. Even though I compared it to others in the beginning, it had a very unique story. She could have used a better editor. Some parts were long and didn't flow well.

This passage resonated with me. I'm finding this book quite interesting. I had no idea how long it was when I began though.

First time I've used Amazon's "add audible edition" - absolutely worth the extra $1.99! I might have to spring for a few more....
