It was a 3 Cs morning: Casey, comics, and coffee (not pictured because I wanted to drink it myself, not watch my dog gulp it down). I‘m enjoying this quietly unsettling collection. #gaymay
Graphic novel. Slice-of-life short stories that centre South Asian women & incorporate uncanny elements: a dog with a human face; the multiverse; a merman. Bishakh Som is trans femme with a Masters in architectural design. Her building interiors & exteriors are precise, and her dialogue pitch perfect. ‘Swandive‘ is explicitly trans, while the rest of the stories have a queer sensibility. Gorgeous! #LGBTQ #comics
Most of the time I just want to go home and hang out with my cat, because he‘s not any of the things we are—hostile, vulgar, vapid—and he‘s more beautiful than any man could ever be!
I talk about the tagged graphic novel and other books I‘ve been reading in my latest booktube video: https://youtu.be/9GH00RN0cR4
This was a truly amazing book. I knew nothing of it and was given it to read. Quickly I fell into the trance that it weaves and could not put it down. Outstanding.
#LPMBC #GroupA #Round9 folx! Here‘s my four that I‘d like to read. Thoughts? I‘ll tag the other three in comments.
