I like this book much better than the previous book the series. The main character has an interesting power-she can sense weakness in man made structures. This leads to her becoming a Blue, and developing her talents into an engineering career. It also explores what happened when valdemar absorbed smaller countries with magic, which was interesting, if contradicting what had been written in previous books. Overall a fun read.

I've had a rough couple weeks due to an intercostal muscle strain. I've been trying to take it easy, but tomorrow I leave for a show in Connecticut and there's no way I can through the weekend without heavy lifting. And knowing I'm going to aggravate it makes my anxiety worse.

That being said, the new Valdemar book came out today. Since this series always makes me happy (even when it's breaking my heart) I'm going to dive in this evening. ❤📚
