When I was a child there were no fantasy franchises about going to school (why would I spend my free time reading about school?). I blame the wizard kid. Light and fun, a nice eclectic group of magic-related children, and actual stakes (someone dies)! Decent, if you‘re into this kind of thing.

Epic, “oh no you didn‘t” conclusion to Strange Academy Finals out today—a comic that began with Skottie late night texting the chief editor of Marvel about “a magic school set in the Marvel universe” idea he had. Super fun comic. #NCBD also features some Star Wars, Dead Romans (gorgeous, moody art), final issue of the Image anthology, a Skottie variant and the start of James Tynion‘s latest horror story—which starts fast and does not let up.

The hardcover edition of this comic is very cool especially if you are into the process of making comics. The script for the first issue is included as is the art—before lettering and coloring—for the first five issues, and then, of course, the finished issues. (The picture isn‘t great but it gives an idea of what I‘m talking about.) Love this comic about the school founded by Dr. Strange and the hardcover edition is fantastic.

I was hoping for a new Generation X (the run from the 90's) and until now things are looking good 😃
It's just 2 issues in, but I have high hopes. There is some very promising foreshadowing and Young's art is a perfect match (Bachalo would have been my dream choice, but we can't have everything. #comics #marvel

Ahhh! Finally issue 2 came out. I was so excited for this new series when it was announced and loved the first issue. It came out right before Covid hit and then quarantine happened and comics stopped printing and now...finally months later we get issue 2 today.

Yay for young mutants at a magic school! 🥰
