Luck? Forget it. Mei Yamagawa is fresh out of it. She's just been downsized from her 3rd job in five years and her bank account is dry. Now, to keep her head above water, she must leave Tokyo and move back to her rural Japanese hometown. And there's nothing worse than having to face your old rivals and ex-boyfriends as a failure while starting life over as a farm girl. But when her best friend's father is murdered, and her best friend is named the main suspect, Mei turns her daydreaming ways towards solving the crime. Between dates disguised as lunches with the town's hottest bachelor chef, searching for clues, and harvesting sweet potatoes, Mei has a lot of non-paying work cut out for her. Will she catch the killer before her bad luck turns worse? Or will she fry in the fire with the rest of her dreams of success? Second book finished for #CozyInTheSun ☀️
I wasn‘t sure if I would like this cozy mystery set in Japan, but it was cute. Mei moves back to her hometown in Chikata and her best friend‘s father suddenly dies. She helps the police crack the case. Nice descriptions of food too!

Librarybelle Nice! I‘ve not read a cozy set in Japan, but that sounds like that would be very interesting! 4y
mhillis @Librarybelle And it‘s free to download! 4y
Librarybelle 👍 I‘ll have to check it out! 4y
ferskner Oh that's unusual! Very cool! 4y

I'm so glad I took the chance on this book. I loved it! I was immediately invested in the story and the life of the main character, Mei. Even though my life is very different from hers, I felt like I could relate to her, maybe because I too am a daydreamer. I had a hard time putting it down. When I was getting closer to the reveal, I found my heart was pounding as I read. I definitely recommend this one!

CoverToCoverGirl What is miso soup? 🤣😂🤣 6y
booksandsympathy @CoverToCoverGirl It's a traditional Japanese soup. Broth that has Miso paste melted into it. Miso itself is made from soybeans. 6y
CoverToCoverGirl Thanks, I learned something today! 😁 6y

This cozy mystery set in Japan is free for Kindle on Amazon. At first, I wasn't certain if I wanted it(not certain why, as I love Japan). Then I saw the series is called Miso Cozy and I laughed. Starting it today.

Magpiegem That is one fantastic pun! 6y
