A neurodivergent girl called Addie learns at school that her hometown burnt witches because they were deemed different. The witches were just like Addie - different. Addie works to start up a memorial to remember those who were punished.
Addie shows great power and strength unlike some of the adults in her life. It is a touching and powerful book. This book needs to be in every classroom and adults made to read it too!

Picked this up from the library earlier and starting tonight. 🛌

Wow 🤩 what a fantastic read . A middle grade story of 11year Addie, I think this book should be on the school curriculum,reminding us adults can be bullies as well as children & a child who is a bully usually has issues.
Anyway a book to whizz through in one sitting and it‘s now on bbc iPlayer as a mini series so il be diving into that !

I read this for work (I teach in a special school so need books for KS2 & 3 learners) and I thoroughly enjoyed it! An excellent choice for higher KS2, but a good read for adults too!

This book is about being neurodivergent, bullies, kindness, friendship, and apologies. It was a quick, easy read and it made me cry (not something that happens often). I love Addie and her voice throughout the book!

And we‘re off! This is my first book of 2022 and I liked it a lot. A memorable main character and her family and experiences at school. Love the fact that it‘s an own voices book with an autistic author.

An important & well-written novel that needs to be put in the hands of middle grade readers. An OwnVoices novel, it explores the difficulty of being different (in this case autistic) in a world that sometimes fails to embrace diversity. The writing is perfectly aimed at its audience & speaks in a way that is accessible & plainly understood. Brilliantly & sensitively written. There is a lot to be learned from this novel for both children & adults.

Well, I quite literally couldn‘t put this one down. An incredibly moving story but also a vitally important one. Every parent, every teacher & every child should read it.
