This is a lovely picture book about a little girl who makes paper dolls with her mum. They are "Ticky and Tacky and Jackie the Backie and Jim with two noses and Jo with the bow" and they have many adventures. I love the ending: the little girl has grown up and is making paper dolls with her own child.

"We're Ticky and Tacky and Jackie the Backie and Jim with two noses and Jo with the bow"

I cannot read this one without getting a little bit of a lump in my throat. I find it incredibly poignant. It is so simple yet so powerful and I think my daughter gets something different from it now she's a little older. The double page spread of the little girl's memories is so beautiful I'm tearing up just thinking about it!
