Three
Three: an intricate thriller of deception and hidden identities | D. A. Mishani
7 posts | 7 read | 10 to read
A dark psychological thriller with a killer twist, that has topped the bestseller charts in its native Israel *TRANSLATED BY MAN BOOKER WINNER JESSICA COHEN* Three tells the stories of three women: Orna, a divorced single-mother looking for a new relationship; Emilia, a Latvian immigrant on a spiritual search; and Ella, married and mother of three, returning to University to write her thesis. All of them will meet the same man. His name is Gil. He won't tell them the whole truth about himself - but they don't tell him everything either. Tense, twisted and surprising, Three is a daring new form of psychological thriller. It is a declaration of war against the normalisation of death and violence. Slowly but surely, you see the danger each woman walks into. What you won't see is the trap being laid - until it snaps shut.

I bought this book around 3 years ago and finally read it last month. I didn't know what to expect but I can safely say it was really good. Basically three women meet the same man and the consequences of what happens to them. I was so shocked at the end of the first part as I hadn't expected that! I can't say more as don't want to give anything away!

This was a quick read and definitely had underlining sinister vibes. It‘s three interconnected stories linking Gil, a forty something attorney who isn‘t quite what he presents to be. Set in & around Israel, I enjoyed the local setting. A good read, but perhaps a #BorrowNotBuy 😛

My son asked to go to the bookstore/ nobody had to ask me twice! He choose the two NF and the South Korean thriller, the bookshop employee suggested the tagged book. Felt good to be back amongst the stacks, even if most of the English language titles were mostly books I‘ve read.

Megabooks Awesome!! The Gladwell is fantastic! 3y
EvieBee Three is amazing! So excited for you! Made me feel like I was strolling through your neighborhood. 3y

Cinfhen Z is a BIG fan of Gladwell @Megabooks so he was excited to find this book in print. I own it on my kindle but that doesn‘t really help him. I still have yet to read it myself 3y

A novel of three interlinked stories of lonely women in Israel linked through their connection to one man. What a well-written ride!

Story is told from the perspective of the detective who solves the case and the victims, about a year before they are murdered. Three separate stories that are linked to one murderer. It's not a classic mystery as it describes the loneliness, thoughts and lives of the victims. The murders are brutal as in real life: disrupt, destroy, hurt. We get to know the victims, empathize and can relate - and then he takes them from us. What a book!
