V2
V2: A Novel of World War II | Robert Harris
8 posts | 3 read
From the best-selling author of Fatherland and Munich comes a WWII thriller about a German rocket engineer, a former actress turned British spy, and the Nazi rocket program. It's November 1944--Willi Graf, a German rocket engineer, is launching Nazi Germany's V2 rockets at London from Occupied Holland. Kay Connolly, once an actress, now a young English Intelligence officer, ships out for Belgium to locate the launch sites and neutralize the threat. But when rumors of a defector circulate through the German ranks, Graf becomes a suspect. Unknown to each other, Graf and Connolly find themselves on opposite sides in the hunt for the saboteur. Their twin stories play out against the background of the German missile campaign, one of the most epic and modern but least explored episodes of the Second World War. Their destinies are on a collision course.

A rather good thriller by an author who‘s new to me. The subject was fascinating, and both our heroes, so to speak, were interesting. If you like WWII fiction/thrillers I think you‘ll enjoy this one. Another book crossed off my #BookSpinBingo card and the third book read for #20in4. A decent effort in the end.

Another passable thriller.

Never got into the military-type thriller genre - found Hunt for Red October impossible to follow and couldn't finish it - but this one wasn't bad at all.

Alternate chapter POVs with German V2 operators versus UK analysts. Will the UK analysts find the V2 launch location and stop the bombing?

Does not glorify war.

#NetGalley Book
Love Robert Harris books and was glad to get the opportunity to have this as a NetGalley Review. Another very enjoyable book covering a key part of the ending of the war, and clear by this stage Germany knew the gig was up and this was their last hurrah, but a very deadly hurrah. Enjoyable lead characters on both sides and found out a lot about the V2 Rockets. If I was hypercritical a touch short and came to a very quick ending.

Andrew65 However this shouldn‘t take away from this good book. 3rd #NetGalley book finished over the past two days, meaning I met my third goal for #SuperSeptember of finishing 3 NetGalley books. Now to write the full review. 4y
Andrew65 Forgot to tag this one for #ReadingEurope2020 I used it for #Belgium but would also cover Netherlands / Holland for anyone that still needs that country. @BarbaraBB @Librarybelle (edited) 4y
