From New York Times bestselling authors Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff comes an Illuminae prequel digital novella that gives readers a hair-raising glimpse into the calamity that befell the invincible AI system known as AIDAN--and the daring young programmer who would risk her life to keep it from crashing. AIDAN is the AI you'll love to hate. The advanced AI system was supposed to protect a fleet of survivors who'd escaped the deadly attack on Kerenza IV. AIDAN was supposed to be infallible. But in the chaotic weeks and months that followed, it became clear that something was terribly, terribly wrong with AIDAN...

I was totally lost on the audio so I checked out the ebook. Intriguing enough to continue. Rec from an IRL friend.

Memento gives insight into AIDAN's background and essentially shows the reader how it became what it was when it met Kady Grant. Olivia faces similar struggles with AIDAN that Kady also faced, but it seems like Olivia's answers to AIDAN's many questions affected its personality, causing it to become the AI Kady both loved and hated. Overall, a great novella!

Super fun audiobook in the world of the illuminae files. Do not even bother with it if you haven‘t read the other books though. They are fabulous, highly recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

5 Stars all around...

A great little short story that leads right up to the attack on Kerenza IV, showcasing how AIDAN started going off the rails. The same full-cast narration that is utilized in the Illuminae Files is used in this too. Making it just as compelling as the rest of the series. It's also the perfect time to re-listen to this series...which I'm going to do!

It‘s a really short read, but a prequel to a series I have really enjoyed. How did Aiden, a ships AI of the Alexander, develop what can only be seen as a sense of self? Open this up and find out.
