Now a hit Netflix film! The sexy and deeply romantic internationally bestselling novel that inspired the blockbuster movie. Laura Biel and her boyfriend are on a dream vacation in beautiful Sicily. On the second day of their trip, her twenty-ninth birthday, she is kidnapped. Her kidnapper is none other than the head of a powerful Sicilian crime family, the incredibly handsome, young Don Massimo Torricelli, who is determined to possess her at all costs. Massimo has his reasons. During an earlier attempt on his life, a vision appeared before his eyes: a beautiful woman, identical to Laura. After surviving the attack, he vows that he will find the woman in his vision and make her his own. No matter what. For 365 days, Massimo will keep Laura captive in his palatial estate and attempt to win her heart. If she doesn't fall in love with him during this time, he will let her go. But if she tries to escape at any point, he will track her down and kill her entire family. Soon Laura develops a fascination with her handsome and powerful captor. But as a precarious, risky relationship forms between them, forces outside their control threaten to tear them apart...

Bailedbailed

HARD pass. 🤮

Four pages into my #bookspin book, and I'm out. I literally felt like throwing up by page two. I bought this on a whim at Barnes and Noble not really knowing anything about it. Dropping it in the donate box.

@TheAromaofBooks would it be alright if I subbed another book for my bookspin number? I just can't with this one and I don't want a bail book on my bingo.

GingerAntics Just read the description, it sounds dysfunctional to the extreme!!! Stockholm Syndrome anyone? I seriously wish authors would stop using these abusive situations as “sexy” or to further their plots. Ugh. I don‘t blame you for bailing. 3y
Traci1 @GingerAntics idk about the rest of the book since I stopped on page 4, but it's told from the man's perspective and he's raped a woman, and thanked her for it, by then. I should definitely start reading the blurbs of books before I buy them. 3y
Clare-Dragonfly If I didn‘t put bails on my bingo board I‘d have a very hard time picking books for my list! 😆 I know @TheAromaofBooks has said that a bail counts for the #bookspin giveaway, as long as you gave it a shot. 3y

GingerAntics @Traci1 sometimes you see a book at the store and it looks so interesting you have to bring it home, though. I probably would have been intrigued by that cover. The Litsy blurb was enough to put an end to that, though. 3y
Traci1 @Clare-Dragonfly yeah, that's true. I know it's about moving books off the tbr, one way or another. I definitely set a personal record with this one though. I always give it at least 30 or 40 pages before I give up. But I can't give any more brain space to this one. 3y
TheAromaofBooks Bails totally count for your #BookSpin credit because that book is DEFINITELY off the TBR!!! 😂 @Clare-Dragonfly is correct on that one. And honestly, from the GR blurb, this doesn't sound that bad, so I can see buying it based on that blurb - it does say she gets kidnapped & that he's “determined to possess her“ but definitely doesn't say anything about rape or forced sexual encounters, so I can see that coming as an unwelcome surprise! 3y
Traci1 @TheAromaofBooks yeah, I can handle most subjects, but being inside the head of a rapist, and then knowing they're meant to be the "romantic" hero of the tale isn't something I want to do. I almost want to hope there was something lost in translation, but I think that's probably wishful thinking. ?‍♀️ 3y
