This story was so unique! YA fantasy but not formulaic, the pages flew by on this one!

This was good but I think I was hoping for more. The story and characters, I liked, but I dno, something abt it kept me from loving it. Also, not sure why but I wasn‘t into the narration for the audiobook 🤷🏽‍♀️

When her sister goes missing, Natasha turns to a rumored witch, Della, for help. While Della feels the need to help, she fears the monster behind it all is her possessed mother. What can they do to find the truth, especially when there‘s only so much they can reveal to each other?
I did enjoy their expressions of feminine rage! I think others might find Nat‘s anger a bit much, but I would 100% be out for blood if anything happened to my sister.

This YA fantasy/thriller mashup had a lot of elements that I expected to like- mysterious creatures, a magical forest, missing girls & a murder to solve, but I didn‘t enjoy it as much as expected. Oddly, a few words aren‘t correctly pronounced in the audio and while Natasha‘s stubbornness feels realistic, it was hard to like her much. Della is more likable but they both make questionable choices. It‘s repetitive & the mystery is easy to untangle.

The magic felt so real and possible. The Bend feels like a place I would love to live. I might find myself rereading this book just visit the Bend again. As a nearly 40 year old woman reading a sapphic YA supernatural horror, I vacillated between how this would‘ve impacted a younger me and how much adult me just wants to hug these girls and keep them safe. 5/5✨

This book was magical, whimsical, and beautiful. I really enjoyed this book and highly suggest it if you're into those types of books. Very elegantly written as well. Only a few things I didn't like, but very dismal. 4.5/5

This book is one of my favorites for many reasons. The romance, the witchy stuff, the mystery, but most of all the otherworldly feel that Erica Waters creates. There's this feeling about the book that seems detached from reality, which was what kept me wanting more. I was unable to put this book down, EVEN TO SLEEP. I totally recommend it.

Oh, this YA witchy tale has a lot going for it—an atmospheric setting, intriguing characters, a terrible threat, mysterious disappearances, magic and loads of danger. But, and it‘s a rather notable BUT, there is a moment where one of the characters does something so monumentally dumb, it pulls you out of the story and leaves you shaking your head the rest of the way. Still, on the whole it‘s a recommend. On sale 7/20/21.
